Devotion #1 Loving Your Enemies

Hi everyone. I would like to start posting devotions for anyone to read. They won’t be daily devos although I might like to do that a few times…Ok. Devotion #1 Loving Your Enemies.

There are a lot of people in this world who can be really mean, selfish and awful toward us. We might even call them our enemies. Jesus had to deal with that too. The Pharisees were, like, not nice to him. When he was on the cross, people even spit on him! But guess what!? He asked his Heavenly Father to forgive them! You see, that is what we should do. The Bible says to turn the other cheek. That means not to give back insult for insult to retaliate. Instead give them love. Pray for them. Why? Because God asked us too. Here is some scripture: 1 Thessalonians 4:9; 1 John 2:8; 3:11, 23; 4:7; 2 John 1, 6.

“But I say love your enemies! Jesus said. “Pray for those who persecute you!” Matthew 5:44. He showed us what it meant by HIS OWN LIFE!!! To do this, we might have to die to our own feelings of jealousy, distrust and anger so that Jesus can take over, grow stronger and love through ourselves. God doesn’t expect us to do this alone. Let’s ask him to give us extra help! Let’s forgive others. God blesses those who do just that. “If you love only those who love you, what reward is there for that? Even corrupt tax collectors do that much.” Matthew 5:46 NLT.  What that means is don’t just love others who are your friends and who are easy to love. We have to love the people who dislike us and who aren’t easy to love. Again, God blesses those who love and forgive others. Mission: next time someone hurts you in some way, be kind and forgiving back. It’ll be hard but God will help you. It’s NOT impossible. Let’s pray….

Dear Lord, I know how hard it is to love others. Please help us to love like you. Thank you. And thank you also for loving us. Amen.

So I hope this first devotion was encouraging. I also hope you enjoyed it. Please comment about what you think and maybe you could give some ideas for devos. Please share my website with others! God bless, Maddi Rae ❤
